AT LAST LIGHT
AT LAST LIGHT
I stood on the balcony at last light,
looking out toward the mountains,
remembering your sweet face,
the way your eyes lit up when you laughed,
the sound of your voice, such a pleasure to my ears
and I ache for you.
I ache in a way that is primal, deep, encompassing, exhausting,
yet, I feel you with me
every time I draw breath,
each step that I take
towards a future
you want for me,
toward a life
you need for me,
to be whole again.
